NOTES ON SOUND.
English Ver:
An Explosive Opening: Destruction and Reconstruction by Post-Rock Pioneers
Having firmly established their reputation as pioneers of post-rock with their previous album, TNT, Tortoise followed it with a remarkably powerful and raw band sound. Editing and performance, precision and physicality. Fragments of recorded performances are meticulously edited, and the resulting compositions are then performed again in new forms. Explosive drums and noise. From the moment the opening track, “Seneca,” begins, there is a thrilling sense that an entirely different landscape from their previous work is about to unfold. Jazz, rock, funk, dub, and electronic music intersect in an endless series of unpredictable twists and turns. Perhaps the most playful album in Tortoise’s entire discography.
